Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Every season of life carries its own wisdom — even the ones that feel like winter. My work is helping people find their way toward spring.
"The goal isn't to eliminate struggle — it's to move through it with greater understanding."
— Boyd Cowan, PMHNP-BCAbout
I'm a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years of experience across the full spectrum of psychiatric care — from crisis stabilization and inpatient settings to outpatient practice and telehealth.
In addition to clinical work, I consult with mental health professionals, healthcare organizations, and technology teams developing AI tools for psychiatric applications. I also offer training workshops on a range of mental health topics.
My approach draws on clinical depth, a decade and a half of real-world practice, and a genuine curiosity about where psychiatry is heading — especially at the intersection of technology and human care.
Clinical Philosophy
Nature doesn't apologize for winter. Neither should we. Each season of the mind carries meaning, and each one passes.
Some periods of life feel like bare branches in snow — still, quiet, stripped back. Winter is not failure. It is the necessary precondition for everything that follows.
Something stirs. Small, tentative, uncertain — but real. Spring doesn't arrive all at once. Recovery rarely does either. We look for signs of life wherever they appear.
Fullness of function. The capacity to work, to love, to be present. Summer is what we're building toward — not perfection, but flourishing that belongs to you.
Letting go of what no longer serves. Transitions are their own kind of grief. Autumn reminds us that change and beauty are not opposites — sometimes they're the same thing.
Consulting & Training
With over 16 years of psychiatric practice across crisis care, inpatient settings, eating disorder programs, TMS, private practice ownership, and telehealth — I offer grounded, experience-backed consultation for clinicians and organizations navigating complex questions in mental health.
I work with mental health clinicians seeking peer consultation on clinical cases, career decisions, or scope of practice questions, and with those starting or growing a private practice who need practical guidance on operations, technology, and workflow. I also provide expert witness services for legal proceedings requiring psychiatric expertise, and consult with technology teams building AI tools for behavioral health applications.
All engagements begin with a conversation. Reach out to introduce yourself and describe what you're working on — I'll respond personally within a few business days.
